Hang on to your hats and prepare to be electrified

Hang on to your hats and prepare to be electrified as Plug and Play launches the new decade with a full-on, high-octane, all-electric band night on Sunday January 3rd 2010. Plug and Play has had a fantastic first half of the season so far with local acts such as the immensely talented Ethan Thomas and the recently formed "funky-folk" band Stooshie as well as international touring virtuoso musician Jonn Gomm all of which have sat perfectly with the acoustic feel of the venue. But now it's time to dust off the cobwebs and present the best of the amplified bands. It will be quite a feat to host so many bands within one evening but the dedicated team of Plug and Play volunteers are well versed in quick band change-over and sound-check. With the complexities involved in swapping the stage over for multiple electric bands the event will feature six bands, all of which have had to pre-book. "Once again we have had to depart from our usual set-up of an open-mic section followed by a main act." Said organiser Tom Corda-Stanley "Much like the fantastic Acoustic Showcase we had back in September, we are putting on a night where every act is a main act. There are so many great bands out there and many of them don't often get a chance to play gigs nowadays as there are fewer and fewer music venues willing to support original music."Interest for this event has spread far and wide; Andrew Hignett and his band Sheldon are coming all the way from Chester to play the

event such is the impressive reputation that Plug and Play has garnered over it's ten year life. Jonathan Trengrove, know for his fantastic song-writing talent, will be debuting his eagerly awaited new band 88mph which you can be sure will be nothing short of spectacular. The youth will be represented by Acid Anihilation with their super sharp metal riffing and earth-shaking vocals and that is to name just a few of the bands that will appear. "There are always going to be some surprises at Plug and Play such is the nature of the event; but what you can guarantee is that the bands will all be top quality. It is going to be a hell of an alarm call to wake up the new year and all for just £3"Beyond this Plug and Play has more treats to come for the second half of the season. Due to popular demand Ember will return to play in February and Kirsty McGee and Matt Martin will return in April. There are rumours afoot that March will feature a new local blues band of exceptional quality.
